Peer review: from critic to critical friend
As public servants, it is our duty to be under a microscope in order to learnwhat we can do to improve the life chances of those young minds in our care. I see it as a privilege and a calling, however, the purpose of inspection in its current form seems to have gone from ‘critical friend’ to ‘critic.’
Designing the curriculum of the future.
We remain a school of idealists, but we feel increasingly excited that through our relationships with the wider educational community our idealism can play a meaningful role in bringing real, and much needed change to the system.
Head, Heart and Hand Leadership in the South West
Big Education and Connect Academy Trust believe in a better education that focuses the head, heart and hand. Together, they aim to empower education leaders and create positive change in schools and communities.
Time for change
Change is in the air. At Big Education, we advocate for much-needed change in the education system. It’s time to think more broadly about the potential of children and young people and create a different kind of educational journey. Join us in shaping the next chapter of education.

“We are preparing children for a future that we cannot see”
At School 360, student wellbeing is no tick box exercise. Mindfulness is another great example of how our approach is authentically carved into our day-to-day. Wellbeing, the values curriculum, inclusion; these are all given the same importance as the core subjects. We are encouraged to take time covering these components, but also, significant time and effort is taken to weave the values into our daily routines.
Teaching life skills in Early Years
We believe that by investing in independent skills in Early Years, we are improving the children’s life chances from the moment they start school. By enhancing the curriculum in this way, we are developing self-sufficient and resilient learners through a progressive scheme that is tailored to their needs.
