This programme combines face to face sessions and online learning modules to introduce the theory and practice of play-based learning for Key Stage One. Participants will find out:

  • What research says about the benefits of a play based approach for young children
  • How play based approaches are used around the world
  • How to ensure high quality adult-child interactions in a play based setting
  • How to plan for stretch and challenge in a mixed achieving class
  • The structure of the timetable and how to organise the learning environment
  • Possibilities for playful learning with older children

 

This programme also includes three online learning modules to be completed before the programme starts and between sessions.

There are possibilities to visit a play based Key Stage One classroom as part of the programme.
