Do you want to cultivate a leadership approach that nurtures growth, embraces diversity and sparks innovation?

Transform your leadership approach with the Big 8 toolkit

What is the Big 8?

The Big 8 is a powerful toolkit which enables education leaders to create a relational and highly focused work culture, with clarity around expectations, and space for innovation. Built on insights from psychology and client-centered coaching, the tools focus on how to empower individuals to think and act with autonomy by creating overall team coherence and psychological safety. The tools are practical and learnable – although we all find some of them easier than others!

What you will gain

  • Be able to support those around you to build trusting relationships, and raise self awareness, creating a positive team environment
  • Be able to agree ways of working and hold each other accountable for this
  • Confidence to give and receive feedback to enhance performance and strengthen team culture
  • Greater confidence from team members to share their insights and so gain a variety of perspectives that create real and lasting change

What you will experience

  • An initial two days of immersive training, which includes learning the theory, research and how to put the Big 8 into practice
  • Termly online refresher workshops, with the wider Big 8 Practitioner Network
  • Access to a variety of resources to fuel your ongoing development, including a research paper, self-evaluation tool, reflective activities and demonstration videos
  • Becoming a certified Big 8 Practitioner, with a badge for your email signature, CV and social media
  • A 10% referral discount to encourage others to experience the Big 8

* 1 year membership of the Big 8 Practitioner Network included, which starts after your in person sessions (£195 per year thereafter – opt out at any time).

Meet the facilitator

Liz Robinson

CEO, Big Education

Liz’s motivation comes from a profound belief that schools can play a transformative role in children’s lives, but also in shaping whole communities. Social justice and wider change underpin her views that school simply must be about the whole child, the whole family and the whole community. As the head at Surrey Square for many years, Liz used values as a key driver to redefine the purpose of the school and radically reshape the culture and approaches. She is exceptionally proud of how the school continues to develop and innovate. Liz has deep expertise and a particular interest in capacity development and growing leadership. Her philosophy is based on a client-centred approach, actively empowering others into thoughtful action. Liz co-founded Big Education to be a place where those who believe in more radical change in the sector can come together; to collaborate, share, challenge and encourage one another. As mum to two young girls, Liz works flexibly to manage her role. She advocates for and seeks to model an authentic, reflective and relational approach to leadership.
