Emerging themes: Social Disadvantage

Illuminating insights from a range of thoughtful leaders

Co-Director, Big Education

We launched the Learning from Lockdown site just a few weeks ago and the site continues to grow with fascinating contributions . The number and range of blogs has been incredible and will provide a valuable resource for all involved in education who are looking to learn lessons from this extraordinary shake-up of the system.

I also want to welcome the huge number of people who have signed-up to the site in the last two weeks. It is great to have you on board!  We would love to have you contribute a blog to the site – the bigger and broader the range of voices we have contributing ideas, the better the learning will be. It has been great to have a lot of first time bloggers published alongside some of the more experienced writers. We now have our first student blogger, as well: an insightful account of lockdown from a student in Year 9.

One of the strands of thought which has emerged over the last month or so is how to support those in our schools and communities who are most disadvantaged. I have tried to pick out some of the themes in the video above.

Thanks again for all of your contributions – the site only works because of the great blogs we have received!
